I know of a guy who CYCLED from Poland, got the ferry then cycled to Liverpool for a job interview.
Kudos to him I say. Makes me think maybe if the people who spend all their time moaning abut how all these "foreigners" are coming over and "stealing their jobs" they should maybe stop complaining about this and get off their arses to apply for some, thus not giving the polish guy a change to get to the border.
hmmm anyway..
In this cynical world where big companies live to shaft you in a way you can never really help there are some real gems. When I moved house I wanted to sign up for a 100% green electricity supplier. I have a strong belief in green issues so it seemed fitting. I signed up for a www.good-energy.co.uk and have not regretted it since. I do pay marginally more than I would with Nbastards or Gritish Bass however there is not automated call waiting, touch phone selection or noisey call centre to deal with. They're nice and helpful and actually do what you need them to do. It's a shame then that gas is not renewable or I'd sign up for that too.
Still, I arrive home yesterday to find a box on my sofa. I've not bought anything or ordered anything so when I open it I find a large bottle of organic local apple juice from a farm in the Cotwolds and a thank you from Good Energy for recommending them.
Cycnics in the bunch will laugh as say "Oooh big wow, apple juice" but I say "yeh, big wow apple juice!" It maybe a token but what would Nbastards or Gritish Bass give you for your loyalty?
