I wean, you wean, we are weaning...

So, Noodledoodle is 22 weeks old now and over the last 2 weeks I've noticed he's downing his 8oz bottles in a second and checking out the fast food menu on the side while chewing on his rattle.

Oh and REEEALLY begruding every mouthful of food anyone ever takes....ever.

I love the weaning stage, it's so much fun watching them explore food in all it's guises but I hate the gubbins that goes with weaning. The major league list of doo's and dont's that can make it stressful. When I weaned DS1 about 18 months ago I was very conscious at the start of the choices I made and worried about if "I was doing it right" but I read into it and decided I didn't want to solely do BLW in the context the purists stick too. I decided to mix wean. This involved a bowl of puree, two spoons, various finger foods and a highchair and much laughter.

But it's not cricket according to my healthcare professional. But ya know what I am a parent I have to go with my gut feeling as THAT is parenting. So I carried on doing what I did when I had Bean, broke rules!

I mix fed between bottle and breast for the first 6 weeks of his life - HORROR! No nipple confusion at all surprise surprise!

I switched to formula because I had to go back to work at 12 weeks (and shock horror he's a healthy 2 year old)

I weaned him at 5.5 months (see above)

I mixed weaned with purees (and contrary to popular belief did not "force" him to eat from a spoon from me)

...I plan on doing the same this time so was watching out for the signs, and watched him swipe at his big brothers dinner trying to grab a handful of carrot. This would be an error on his part as like Joey from friends, Bean does NOT share food. Not even with 'andad.

SO we are weaning officially - bring on the messy mess!

Princi was fab when she was weaning, she'd try anything and only really didn't like spicy stuff. However, it's all different now. She is a fussy bugger and getting her to eat a meal in anywhere under an hour is practically impossible. (Oh no, she's reading this as I type :o ) But she does love her sticky broccoli and he honeyed carrots, and she'll stuff her face with tomatoes every day if she could. Getting her to eat chips is a job and a half - but Mummy, chips aren't good for you - and she's not a Hobbit like me, she won't touch mushrooms. I'm just hoping it'll change over time, because I'm so bored of eating the same things over and over again because she will not try anything different.

hehehehe! I'm lucky Logan eats anything (and that includes cat biscuits, fluff, stones and soil) so if he starts being fussy now he's going to have to starve.

I'm hoping Evan is going to be the same way! I love weaning. I don't think he's a massive formula fan so I can't wait to get him on to proper milk!
