resolved...

soo i made a resolution to blog once a week. Its sunday night so i should really get on it.

Have had a busy ole week in work but managed to squidge in seeing Life of Pi on sunday last week. I wasn't quite sure what to expect as i love the book, but it is written so that what comes from your imagination is what you love about it. Its such an incredible book that you see the story in technicolour, taste the salt and smell the sea. I wasn't sure they would be able to do it justice.

But they did. It was breathtaking, and whereas it was altered to fit into a film format it wasn't done in a way that was detrimental to the book or the story. The colours and specialFX were just astonishing, especially the CGI tiger. I really forgot i was in the cinema! Amazingly uplifting film.

This week it was the turn of Les Miserables. I've been waiting to see this for a long time. Having seen the stage show twice in the very early 90's and loving it - have even been known to have a crafty listen to the soundtrack on itunes in amongst all the rock music but don't tell anyone... ;)

I wasn't sure how the actors in it would match up to the stage performers with their incredible voices but I was blown away. Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean was compelling, moving, had a fantastic voice and of course yummy! (yes frankly i had to bring it down to that haha!) - Eddy Redmayne was surprisingly good as Marius and Russell Crowe, aside from not having as strong a voice as the Javert I have seen on stage, played the role well. It was nice to see that the actress playing Eponine was one from the actual stage production, i did wonder if there would be cross over. I loved it though. I can't imagine just being able to sing like that, I manage to sing really well - in my mind...!

So here endeth my unintentional mini movie blog - but hey, I kept my resolution so far!
