Bad mummy

So I haven't posted for a few weeks, not since the "incident" occurred. If you ask the Threenager he will tell you dramatically that "Mummy slammed the door on to his finger" whilst in the same instance giving you the puppy dog eyes.

However Mummy will tell you that there was no slamming, but that she did indeed shut his finger in the door..not on purpose she might add. Cue a trip to the walk-in centre on 2 buses with 2 toddlers (man oh man it'd be very useful to be able to drive in those circumstances!) and many "brave boy stickers" from the nurses...oh and a magic picture of "my bones mummy!"

It is fractured at the tip. OOh I feel so guilty!

So pretty much we spent the day ensconced in the NHS, as in the afternoon he had his Endo Clinic. We find out he has grown 5.5cm in 6 months so that explains why he can reach the next shelf on the bookcase and he is still dead on the 99th centile for weight. How this can be I don't know as I think he is made of granite. They seemed pleased and his routine blood test was pain free, aside from the initial pin prick he didn't cry, opting for counting the drips of blood into the phial.

A few days later we had the results. His TSH is slightly elevated, not sure on his T3 and 4 levels as I still haven't had the letter from the hosp but they have upped his dose to 75mg a day again and we are to do a "no meds" blood test on the 15th. Not done that before so I have to remember not to give him his meds that morning...which will be weird after nearly 4 years.

So the finger is healing rapidly and he isn't bothered by it. Ortho said it was fine, didn't need splinting and discharged him and he veers between - "it's ok mummy" (when he wants to do something) and "Oh I can't do that because I have a sore finger" (when he doesn't).

Had a very fun adventure a few weekends ago when HMS Illustrious visited Liverpool. We hot footed it down there to go and have a look on board. It was a bit of a pilgrimmage for me as I have been lucky enough to go on a family day (twice) on board HMS Invincible when my godfather was serving on her. That was amazing, we could explore every inch. Illustrious is one of her sister ships (Ark Royal was the other one) and is due to be decommissioned this year, marking the end of that class of aircraft carrier. Kinda sad as my godfather died a good few year ago, but amzing to be able to climb onboard and revisit the past with my boys.

See memories of good times keep us all going - I went on Invincible in 1984 as a 9 year old, and I still remember the smell of Oil and salty air...and the noise of the ship as she sailed in the Solent.
